THE BEST BURGER IN NAPA

Our Picks

Dining in Napa is an adventure. In addition to creative chefs and so-fresh-they-are-grown-outback ingredients, there are plates of gourmet cheeses, charcuterie (a very French way to enjoy your deli meats), inventive hors d’oeuvres, and don’t even get us started on desserts.

But, nothing scratches a hunger itch like a great hamburger. We asked our staff for some of their favorite places to belly up to a delicious burger, and here is what they said!

ARMANDO ORTIZ, ROOMS DIVISION MANAGER

The Squeezeburger from Squeeze Inn Hamburger – a small Northern California chain with less than 5 locations.

I love the quality of the hamburger patty – it’s always juicy and fresh tasting. The buns are perfect, but the mouthwatering part is all of the melted cheese everywhere. I pick off the edges of the cheese first before biting into this delicious burger, and wash it down with an ice cold beer!

Cost: $6.45
100% beef, 1/3 lb., mayo, mustard, tomato, lettuce, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun

SARA BROOKS, GENERAL MANAGER

The Angele Hamburger from Angele restaurant, a French bistro located in the Historic Napa Mill walking distance from the Inn.

The Angele burger is a local favorite. Angele specializes in excellent cuts of meat, and you know the patty is going to be spectacular: cooked perfectly and with amazing flavor. I enjoy it with a glass of their house red. Right now that’s a Cotes du Rhone.

Cost: $16

Local, grass-fed beef with choice of cheddar, blue, or gruyere cheese. Avocado, Bacon, and Fried Egg available as well. Comes with French Fries (in a paper lined clay pot) and served with ketchup and aioli.

AMIE RIDLING, RESERVATIONS MANAGER

The grilled ½ pound Fume Ground Chuck Burger from Fume Bistro, a popular local bar, and grill.

Whenever I need to take my husband out for a burger, I take him to Fume. This is a man-sized burger with lots of options and a relaxed environment with a full bar. We enjoy our hamburger with a full-bodied red — the 2011 Hess Collection, 19 Block Cuvee, Mount Veeder, Napa Valley. Oh, and we like to go on Monday’s for dinner when burgers at the bar are half priced.

Cost: $11.50

100% Angus beef served on a Buttercream Bakery (local) brioche bun and offered with lots of options: grilled onions, Applewood smoked bacon and mushrooms.

Fume Bistro 4050 Byway East Napa, CA 94558 (707) 257-1999

Sometimes a visit to Napa is like that first year in college – you leave with great knowledge, an amazing experience, and an extra pound or two around the waist.
