A Unique Inn Located Within Historic Downtown Napa, CA
Downtown Napa was founded in 1847 by Nathan Coombs. Although the first Native American settlers arrived in Napa Valley as early as 1823. The first courthouse was erected in 1883 and Spanish settlers were the first to settle in the area. The city of Napa in Napa Valley (Named after the Wappo Indians) was a vibrant business district with as many as 100 horses tied to the posts on any given day. Today, those horse posts can still be found along Main Street and around the Napa Mill.
The Napa River Inn was established in 2001 in what is now known as The Historic Napa Mill. The mill once provided feed and grain to local farmers, and many locals recall coming here as children to roller skate upstairs in what is now the second floor guestrooms or to purchase feed for their animals. The Mill as the locals call it, is once again the vibrant center of the historic downtown Napa district. It's now a gathering place for community meetings and wine-related events, and seasonal culinary events welcoming visitors to partake of our California lifestyle and local flavor.
